BICENTENNIAL CALENDAR CONTEST
The year 2016 is a special year for Indiana — our state marks its 200th birthday. To celebrate, the 2016 Cooperative Calendar of Student Art contest will blend Indiana history, culture, events or places in the monthly themes student artists are to depict.
Guidelines and Rules Intro
As in past years, each grade will be assigned a specific month to illustrate. But for 2016’s calendar, we’ll be looking for an added “Hoosier touch” to all the works.
Students are encouraged to work with teachers/instructors or research on their own on how to weave Indiana into their works. Art for each assigned month should illustrate or somehow communicate or represent:
- an Indiana historical event that occurred during the given month;
- a current Indiana event or famous Hoosier associated with the given month;
- an Indiana landmark, landscape, cityscape, historical site, etc, during the month.
Artwork will be judged on artistic merit; originality; creativity; how well the assigned month is depicted within the Indiana Bicentennial framework; and its suitability for a wall calendar.
The contest deadline is March 20, 2015.
