Lineman Derek Haynes joined the Miami-Cass County REMC team on Oct. 2. He is a student at Indiana Wesleyan University and will receive his bachelor’s degree in business management in April.
Haynes has been married for six years and has two children — a four-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter. He and his family attend Abundant Life Church in Kokomo where he serves as an usher. He enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, playing basketball and woodworking.
Prior to joining the REMC, Haynes worked for Peru Utilities for five years. For his first four years he was an apprentice lineman and during the last year he was a lineman.
Haynes’ family has a history with REMCs. His grandfather was a member of the Fulton County REMC board of directors for over 20 years and served as its president of the board for 15 years.
