Readers respond to survey

More than six of 10 Electric Consumer readers told us they read either the “entire issue” or “most of the issue” each month. And more than nine of 10 readers read at least half of each issue.

Those were some of the findings of an online readership survey held during the month of August. Over 1,000 readers from all over the state responded to the request to take the survey that was found on our website and was promoted on the cover of the August issue.

The survey was conducted as a starting point for Electric Consumer staff and Indiana’s electric cooperative leadership as they look for ways the publication can improve to better serve its 226,000 subscribing consumers and their electric cooperatives.

Reader-submitted recipes, a mainstay of the publication since almost its inception 60 years ago as Indiana Rural News, remained one the most highly-praised sections of the publication. A whopping 97 percent said the articles in Electric Consumer were either “very” or “somewhat” useful. Over 63 percent of the respondents said they read the publication for its combination of general interest features, electric safety/energy efficiency articles and news about their electric cooperative.

Tracie Eversoll, a consumer of Clark County REMC, won the Apple iPod Touch offered as an incentive. Her name was randomly selected from those who took the survey.
