New adventures in learning
The start of the 2011-12 school year will soon be here.
Staying organized will make it easier for you to do your best in school. Remember to write down what your assignments are every day. Check them off as you finish them. You will feel a sense of accomplishment with each check mark.
Keep important papers organized so you can easily find them if you need them. You may want to have a variety of folders in different colors or three-ring binders so you can place your papers in them according to subject. Worksheets that you have completed or notes you have taken will come in very handy when test time comes around.
Pay attention in all of your classes and remember to take good notes. If you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask your teacher for help. Everyday you’ll learn new things. It’s important to understand the lessons you are covering today in order to make tomorrow’s subjects easier to learn.
Don’t put off studying until the last minute. True, the idea of tackling your homework right after a long day of school may not sound appealing, but putting it off until late that night when you’re sleepy is not a good idea. Schoolwork should be a priority, not an afterthought.
Do your best. Set goals for yourself and strive every day to reach them. Success takes work and commitment.
Craft a note-keeper for your locker
Many times, you need a visual reminder to help keep you on track. Make this magnetic note clip for your locker and keep important information handy.
Decorate a wooden clothespin with paint, markers, buttons, beads or decorative trim. You can paint the clothes pin in your school colors or the colors of your favorite sports team. Or you could create fun designs that will make you smile throughout the school year. Glue a magnet onto the back of the clothespin so you can attach it to your locker.
