August 2011 That Reminds Me
Best Sellers
by Emily Schilling
Editor
After over 29 years with
Electric Consumer, Desktop Publishing Specialist Rose Anne Sellers is retiring. We will miss her.
Rose Anne’s primary job responsibility was electronically assembling our subscribing co-ops’ local news sections for publication. She worked closely with personnel at the local electric cooperatives to ensure their pages clearly communicated with readers like you. Each day, she utilized her exceptional typing, page design, and customer service skills — all while maintaining a positive attitude.
Her attitude is contagious. Everyone with whom she worked was charmed by her honesty and sense of humor. Often when our conversations drifted to popular books, she somehow found a way to throw in a good-natured comment that she was the “best” Sellers. Somehow when she said it, it wasn’t the least bit boastful.
Rose Anne’s sensitive soul is a huge part of who she is. She and her late husband were long-time church youth group mentors who impacted many lives. Now, she, her son, and her granddaughter collect and donate items for the needy.
I worked with Rose Anne throughout my entire career at
Electric Consumer. Over those years, we’ve developed a closeness cultivated from being a part of each others’ lives for over a quarter of a century. We help each other out and laugh and cry together. As women who both enjoy a good bargain, we’ve bonded by shopping together — hitting garage sales, discount stores and the Goodwill Outlet store.
I feel blessed to have a job which I truly enjoy. I love my profession and I love the people with whom I work and for whom I work. The camaraderie with others on the staff is something I don’t take lightly — I realize that friendships and teamwork are not always the case in the workplace. When things “click” between co-workers, those hours from 8-to-5 are not only productive, but fun.
Though many of my
Electric Consumer “teammates” have come and gone through the years, Rose Anne has been a mainstay. Our memories will continue to bind us even if we no longer share publication deadlines. (I can’t imagine how she could even want to leave publication deadlines behind though!)
Thanks for the memories, Rose Anne! My favorite song from the Broadway musical “Wicked” best expresses my sentiments as you retire: “Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.”
