This ‘rose’ has the ‘write’ stuff for Mom

Crafty kids will enjoy making flower-topped pencils for their moms for Mother’s Day. If you make several, you can assemble them in a flower pot, coffee mug or glass so Mom will have a whole bouquet of pencils to remind her of how much you love her!
To make one flower pencil, you’ll need:
2 or 3 coffee filters
Washable color markers
Spray bottle of water
Thread
Pencil
Coffee mug
Ribbon (optional)
Perfume (optional)
What to do:
Use the markers to make colorful designs on the coffee filters. Stack the filters on top of each other. Fold the stack in half and then in half again, making a wedge shape.
Place the eraser end of the pencil so it rests above the point of the wedge. Wrap the coffee filter around the pencil end and secure it on the pencil by wrapping thread continuously around it. Hold the pencil, flower side up, over a sink and spray gently with water. The colors will fade into each other, creating a tie-dyed effect. Place the pencil in a coffee mug and allow the flower to dry thoroughly.
After the flower has dried, finish it off by tying a ribbon and bow around the stem to hide the thread and lightly spraying it with perfume (with Mom or Dad’s permission).
