(Even when it's just too cold
to go outside)This is traditionally the month when many snowmen are created since snow is generally on the ground in January. After you’ve put together a Frosty or two in your front yard and are too cold to venture outdoors again, you can still make another snowman indoors!
What you’ll need:1 wooden star shape (optional)
White, black and yellow paint
Paint brush(es)
Pencil
7 jumbo craft sticks (6-by-3⁄4-by-1⁄16-inch)
Craft glue
41⁄2-by-1⁄2-inch piece of red
craft foam
2 googly eyes (we used the 1⁄2 inch
wide size)
Carrot shape cut from orange craft foam
31⁄2-inch long black chenille stem (pipe cleaner)
12-inch long red or
green chenille stem (pipe cleaner) or ribbonDirections:Paint star yellow. With a pencil, draw a line about 2.5 inches down from the top of each of six of the craft sticks. Paint the top 2.5 inches of each of those craft sticks black. Paint the seventh craft stick all black. Let the paint dry thoroughly. Paint the bottom half of the six craft sticks white. Let the paint dry thoroughly.
Once the paint is dry, line the six black and white craft sticks up so they’re even on the top and bottom. The black portion of the sticks should be at the top and their edges should be right up against each other. Apply glue to the back of the black craft stick and center it across the top of the row of sticks where the white and black paint meet. Glue the strip of red craft foam above the black craft stick. Glue the yellow star on top of the red craft foam.
Next, glue on the eyes and the orange craft foam “nose” on the white portion of the row of sticks. Shape the black chenille stem into a semi-circle “smile” and glue it down to make the snowman’s mouth. Let the glue dry.
Bend the 12-inch long chenille stem into a semi-circle. Turn snowman face over. Glue the ends of the chenille stem onto either side of the top of the snowman’s head. This hanger will let you hang the snowman on the wall or on a doorknob or next year’s Christmas tree. Let the glue dry before you hang your snowman up, though.
