Wind is not the answer
Wind is not going to be the answer to our power needs in Indiana, although it may work well in other areas.
The
Electric Consumer had a very thoughtful article regarding the areas in Indiana that would work for windmills, stating that there are only a few that are Class 3 (7 is best) while most of the state is far less. There was also an article published in the
Fort Wayne Journal Gazette stating that much of the wind energy is generated in the western states, and that companies generating that power want us consumers to pay for the cost of moving it to the Midwest.
It is estimated that lines costing $16 billion will be needed, costing Indiana households $40 million per year. My question is how much will this increase our electric bills and how will this affect our standard of living?

Thanks for helping folks save
A person would think a rural electric cooperative would want you to buy more and more electricity from them and not help us save money. That’s more money in their pockets, right?
Again the REC is giving us a free energy seminar, light bulbs that save energy, etc. I truly appreciate that and the February edition with info on Energy Tax Credits. I found ways to help my builders who buy the building and construction supplies from me. With the new building codes coming in Indiana soon, it is important to keep updated on what will be needed through these networks.
