Decoupage for Dad!
Help your dad round up his ‘stuff’ with crafty corral

Show Dad he’ll always hold a piece of your heart with a decoupaged catch-all he can use to corral the remote control, pens and pencils or spare change. It also makes a nice container for his favorite candy.

Decoupage (pronounced “day-koo-pahj”) is from a French word meaning “to cut.” It is the art of decorating a surface with paper cutouts.

To make, you’ll need:
• An empty 9-10 oz. can which used to hold nuts
• Decoupage medium
• Paint brush or popsicle stick
• Puzzle pieces

Directions:
Mom may appreciate it if you cover your work surface with old newspapers “just in case.”

Remove the paper label from the can if there is one. Clean the inside of the can with a paper towel.

Apply a thick layer of the decoupage medium to sections of the can with a brush or popsicle stick. After applying the decoupage medium, place puzzle pieces randomly on the can. Continue applying decoupage medium and affixing puzzle pieces until the outside of the can is covered. Let dry. If desired, you can “fill in” areas  that look empty with another layer of puzzle pieces. After the can is dry, apply another coat of decoupage medium. Dry again. If needed, you can apply another coat of medium.
